The
Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel goes social!
Visitors to
The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel always have enjoyed its
relaxed, friendly atmosphere, but now it’s even more social.
The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) joined the
world of social media with the launch of a Facebook Fan Page
and Twitter account. Both soft-launched at the beginning of
2010 and have steadily grown with increased enthusiasm from
past, present and future visitors to The Beaches of Fort Myers
& Sanibel as well as the tourism industry as a whole.
The goal is to cultivate relationships and brand loyalty, plus
increase direct communication with consumers. The VCB will
foster destination- and travel-related conversation between
visitors and increase consumer interaction with the brand by
engaging fans and followers in trivia and photo contests.
Furthermore, the VCB plans to use the outlets to promote
events and festivals in the destination along with packages
and deals offered by local tourism partners.
“We are fortunate that our area has very loyal brand
evangelists and hope to provide a forum for our past, present
and future visitors to communicate with each other about their
experiences in the destination,” said Tamara Pigott, VCB
executive director.
