Airport traffic down in February, up in March
During
February, 755,095 passengers traveled through Southwest
Florida International Airport (RSW), a decrease of 6.8 percent
compared to February 2009. The traffic leader in February was
Delta with 177,281 passengers traveling to and from Fort
Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran
(132,652), JetBlue (91,742), US Airways (73,807) and Southwest
(64,324).
During
March, 996,951 passengers traveled through RSW, an increase of
1.2 percent compared to March 2009. The traffic leader in
March was Delta with 224,325 passengers traveling to and from
Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran
(167,424), JetBlue (125,292), US Airways (98,154) and
Southwest (92,321).
Year-to-date passenger traffic is down 1.75 percent from the
same period last year.
Port
Authority earns award for crisis management and communications
plan
The Lee
County Port Authority (LCPA), operator of Southwest Florida
International Airport and Page Field General Aviation Airport,
was recognized by the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida
Public Relations Association (FPRA) for its Crisis Management
and Communications Plan. LCPA received an Award of Distinction
at the 2010 Local Image Awards presented in Fort Myers.
The
Southwest Florida Chapter of FPRA conducts the Local Image
Awards annually to recognize outstanding public relations
programs and to encourage and promote the development of
public relations professionalism in southwest Florida. They
have become a standard of excellence and demonstrate the best
of innovation, planning and design in the region.
